Unwanted Invasive Breast Cancer Treatments in US detected.

According to a study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine, about 1.3 million US women were overdiagnosed of breast cancer between 1976 and 2008 resulting in their unnecessary invasive cancer treatments.

Major medical interventions included surgical procedures, radiology, hormone therapy and chemotherapy, which according to medical fraternity are considered only when they are absolutely necessary. The study got the revelation when it was found that the number of early-stage breast cancers detected doubled and ironically the number of women diagnosed with breast cancer dropped to eight percent.
